Fairy Folk The thief cat
Inspired
by the myth of the Cat sìth! I love that myth so much! The Sìth are large black
cats from Gaelic/ celtic mythology. They roam the lands and are known for stealing a person's soul, before it was claimed
by the gods, the sìth cat would do this by passing over a corpse before burial.
To avoit this wakes would be done by night and day to keep the Cat Sìth away. Games
of leaping and wrestling, catnip, riddles and music would be used to keep the
Cat Sìth away from the room in which the corpse lay. No fires would burn were
the body lay because the Cat Síth, as a proper cat, would be attracted by the
warmth.
